The CBI Surplus Store is an initiative run by David Bellick out of the evidence lock up. After a 6 month wait, any unclaimed property officially becomes the property of the CBI. Also, after a conviction and appeals exhausted, any evidence is also turned over to the CBI. The suggestion of David was to set up a City-Wide Surplus Store offering better equipment and supplies to the CBI, than department issue. All funds raised are split between funds for prosecutions on the DA office, community projects and a CBI fund for additional funding to ease budget constraints on CBI.
